The University of Rochester is a private institution in northern New York State. The school has a long tradition of providing vigorous programs of study. Despite its relatively small size, Rochester is nationally known for its excellence in research. The university ranks #35 on the America's Best Colleges list. Of the many strengths of the school are programs in engineering, business, technology and the arts and sciences.

Set upon the picturesque banks of the Genesee River, the University of Rochester features impressive academic and research facilities that include impressive library collections and state-of-the-art engineering laboratories and technology centers. Outside of the classroom, the school provides a small campus atmosphere where 85 percent of students live in university residences. Many in the student body are quite active on campus through the more than 200 campus organizations offering recreational opportunities.

An excellent 9:1 student/faculty ratio allows students to work closely with teachers and advisors as they pursue their studies. The University of Rochester is home to about 5,000 undergraduate students. One of the 'most selective' institutions in the nation, the school has a freshman acceptance rate of 45 percent. Incoming students carry a grade point average of 3.6 and typically have SAT scores between 1230 and 1420 range and ACT scores between 27 and 30.
