Associate of Applied Science in Nursing

Community College of Denver

The Community College of Denver has certificate and associate degree programs in a multitude of areas of study. General Paralegal Certificate

In this 30-credit program, students will learn the basic research, interview and writing skills necessary to become a successful general paralegal. Basic Welding Certificate

Earning this certificate can prepare individuals for entry-level welding careers. Consisting of three classes, the program provides instruction in metal cutting techniques and oxyacetylene joining processes. Associate of Applied Science in Graphic Design

Students in this degree program learn about graphic design concepts and receive computer training to create print and digital products. Coursework includes instruction in drawing, digital photography, computer graphics, typography, website design and Adobe software programs. A less intensive graphic design certificate is also available.

Associate of Applied Science in Medical Assisting

The associate degree program in medical assisting at the Community College of Denver is an 18-month program is tailored to individuals seeking careers in hospitals and doctor's offices. Students will learn basic clinical skills, such as taking blood and other minor surgical assistance procedures. Certificate programs are also offered, for those interested in becoming pharmacy, EKG or phlebotomy technicians.

Emily Griffith Technical College

Emily Griffith Technical College offers online, hybrid, night, weekend and classroom-based programs. In addition to career programs in medical and dental occupations, business, culinary arts and other fields, the school offers vocational training in automotive technology, computers, construction and real estate plus internships in several construction trades. Other programs include GED prep, ESL and adult basic education.

Adult Basic Education

This 45-hour non-degree program offers morning, afternoon and evening courses for three hours twice a week. The program is aimed at adults who have been out of school for a while and need a refresher before jumping back in. Courses cover pre-college mathematics, reading and writing.

High School Equivalency/GED Prep

For those who need a high school diploma for work or college but don't have the option of a traditional high school graduation, Emily Griffith provides several resources to help adults prepare for GED testing. Apprenticeship Training Division Programs

Adults looking for practical, hands-on learning in a trade have over a dozen fields to choose from at the school's apprenticeship training division. Programs combine over 140 hours of class time with a minimum of 2000 hours of job training over 2-5 years. Some apprenticeship options include carpentry, plumbing, certified chef, painting, sheet metal, electrical and voice/data/video technician training.
