Tidewater Community College is a public institution offering more than 150 certificate and associate degree programs. Accounting Specialist Certificate

Associate of Applied Science in Nursing
For those interested in the field of nursing, there is a nursing degree program where students can learn the necessary skills for working in a hospital or doctor's office. Clinical components of this course include rotations in patient care simulators. The associate in nursing program will prepare students for the National Council Licensure Exam.
Associate of Applied Science in Automotive Technology

Associate of Applied Science in Paralegal Studies

Associate of Applied Science in Fire Science Technology

Thomas Nelson Community College's Vocational Programs
Located just north of Norfolk in Hampton, Thomas Nelson Community College offers classes in a multitude of areas of study. The school makes available flexible course schedules that allow students to complete certificate and associate programs while attending to work and family responsibilities.
Certificate in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration
This certificate program prepares students for employment installing and repairing air conditioning and refrigeration units. Courses address heating and cooling systems, mechanical codes, circuitry fundamentals, and safety procedures.
Clinical Medical Assistant Certificate
Earning this certificate can prepare individuals for work in hospitals and doctor's offices. The program - featuring courses in medical terminology and anatomy - prepares students for the National Healthcare Association's Certified Clinical Medical Assistant Exam.
Information Security Professional Certification Program
This program is designed for entry-level and advanced information technology specialists looking to further their knowledge as industry professionals. With coursework in Network+ and Security+, students will be prepped for their respective exams, in addition to a CompTIA A+ exam.
Fortis College has locations around the country with one in Norfolk, Virginia. This branch offers many certificate and associate's degree programs to traditional and non-traditional students alike, as well as some continuing education courses. While options are limited, some programs may even be offered online.
Medical Assistant Associate's Degree and Certificate
