The State of Massachusetts is home to many schools that offer programs in or related to web design. These programs lead to the award of certificates as well as associate's and bachelor's degrees. Bristol Community College
Serving 9,000 students across three campuses, Bristol Community College in Fall River offers a certificate of achievement in web design and a web design and media arts Associate in Arts transfer program. The certificate program includes six required courses in areas like graphic, publication and web design, as well as electives including web animation, multimedia and typography. The degree program expands to topics in two-dimensional design, electronic imaging, motion graphics and animation.
Cape Cod Community College
Located in West Barnstable, Cape Cod Community College hosts an information technology certificate in web design program. Students learn to develop and design websites, as well as gain project management skills. Courses examine computer programming, graphic design, digital imaging, web authoring and multimedia development.
Greenfield Community College
The web development and design certificate program at Greenfield Community College in Greenfield requires students to complete 27 credits in coursework. Topics like e-commerce, website design, software tools and computer arts are required. Students must choose one elective from courses like business communications, contemporary business, database programming, Java and photography.
Massachusetts Bay Community College
Based in Wellesley Hills, Massachusetts Bay Community College offers a web designer certificate program through its Division of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. The 28-credit program emphasizes presentation, and students learn professional skills in authoring and scripting. Quinsigamond Community College is a two-year, public school located in Worcester that offers a four-semester associate's program in new media design for graphic communications. Students produce an interactive DVD portfolio for future use in gaining employment or transferring to a four-year university. Springfield Technical Community College
Springfield Technical Community College offers an Associate in Science program in teleproduction and multimedia technology in Springfield. The 47-credit program examines web design, graphic design, multimedia, digital editing and animation. Coursework covers internet multimedia, design art, video design, interactive media design and interactive authoring.
