Westside Tech

Students interested in pursuing the multimedia design certificate are required to pass the adult basic education exam. The test covers topics such as reading, language and math. The certificate is offered as one of the school's technical career skills programs, and it can be completed in one year.

Career Certificate in Digital Media/Multimedia Design

The multimedia design certificate can prepare students for a career in Web design. Program topics include photography, Web design, Flash animation, graphic design and video and audio editing. During their studies, students have the opportunity to create Web pages, animations and TV commercials.

University of Central Florida

Students can specialize in game design or Web design in this digital media degree program offered jointly by the School of Visual Arts and Design and the College of Arts and Humanities. It takes a full-time student approximately four years to complete this degree program.

Bachelor of Arts in Digital Media - Web Design

Some required courses for the Web design specialization include Internet interaction, media software design, information management and media business practices. Prerequisites are required before taking certain classes. In addition, specific program courses require at least a 'B' grade to satisfy program requirements.

Seminole State College of Florida

Seminole State's associate's degree program is offered through the Digital Arts and Media department, which is situated at the Heathrow campus. Students can participate in hands-on learning to develop their skills, and they also receive one-on-one instruction from faculty members who are practicing animators and designers.

Associate of Science in Digital Media - Web Design Specialization

This 64-credit-hour program is comprised of general education, major, support and elective courses. Some of the major courses include digital imaging basics, interactive design basics, vector and bitmap graphics, Web publishing and portfolio design. Support classes include digital video basics, two courses in Web effects, Web publishing and Web action scripting. Students choose electives from the topic areas of digital media, multimedia graphics or programming. Upon graduation, students can pursue employment in the field or continue their educations at 4-year universities.

Other School Options

Students can enroll in a certificate program in Web development at Winter Park Tech and transfer some credits towards an associate's degree program upon completion. This 2-year school is located about 13 minutes away in nearby Winter Park, FL.
