San Jose City College
San Jose City College offers two levels of certificates and an associate's degree program for students interested in Web design and media arts.
Certificate of Achievement in Web/Interactive Design
Students can complete a level-two certificate, which includes eight courses, or a level-three certificate, which builds on the level-two certificate with an additional three courses. Course topics include communications, writing for the media, computer graphics, multimedia and specific software packages, such as Photoshop and Flash. Students in the level-three certificate program prepare a portfolio of their work and take additional courses in multimedia design and programming.
Associate of Science in Web/Interactive Design
The A.S. program includes the coursework from the level-three certificate program with additional general education courses. Students may also choose elective courses.
Santa Clara University
Students at this university can choose the interdisciplinary bachelor's degree program in Web design. The technical program can help students develop their multimedia, communication and design skills.
Bachelor of Science in Web Design and Engineering
This program provides instruction in math, computer science, computer imaging and graphic design. Students also learn about Web infrastructure, usability and programming. A design project is required of all students.

In this program, students are required to take courses in Photoshop, computer graphic design, Web page design, Web animation and page layout/typography. Web Developer Certificate of Achievement
The required courses include Web page design, Java programming, advanced Web programming and database programming for the Web. Students can choose a variety of electives to supplement their technical skills. Electives may include digital audio, networking, Web animation and digital multimedia.
