CSET Business Subtest I Scoring
You'll get your results about a month after completing the test, and you must score a minimum of 220 points. You can prevent a score report from being sent to licensing agencies if you cancel within seven days of testing, though you also won't receive your score report. The score for the multiple-choice questions will only reflect the questions you answer correctly and make up 70% of your score. The constructed-response questions are manually scored based on specific standards that look for responses that are focused, well supported, and demonstrate sufficient knowledge of the topic. Your scores will be valid for five years.
You'll have 20 multiple-choice questions and one extended fill-in response question on business management. Questions regarding management functions and decision making cover the five main functions of management, the functions and roles of a business, change and innovation, presentation methods for business information, and the uses of mathematical calculations to analyze business data. Organizational theory and behavior questions ask about leadership styles, business cultures and relationships, team dynamics, and motivational strategies. The questions regarding ethical and social responsibilities in business analyze the U.S. legal system, business in the global market, types of laws and regulations, and different legal and ethical business issues.
You'll need to understand business operations and production, including quality control, innovation, and interpersonal dynamics in business for the production and operations management questions. Questions about human resources management cover employee management, policies, recruitment, training, evaluation, and termination, as well as employee and business rights legislation, and safety regulations.
The test includes 20 multiple-choice questions and one short fill-in-response question that cover marketing concepts. You'll be asked about developing and implementing a marketing campaign, market research, the use of the principles of the five Ps, cultural considerations in marketing, types of advertising media and technologies, and calculating data to resolve issues dealing with marketing issues. Questions also discuss sales processes, consumer behavior, and promotional strategies and tools. Global marketing topics include identifying factors that influence global business, such as consumer values, trends, business alliances, logistics, and trade barriers.
